Our special guests for the weekend will include Mike Cope (Abilene), Jason Hildebrand (Toronto), and Malcolm McMillan (Calgary).
MIKE COPE: Mike currently ministers with the Golf Course Road Church of Christ, while also serving as the Director of Ministry Outreach for Pepperdine University. The author of several books, his most recent work (2011) is titled “Megan’s Secrets, What My Mentally Disabled Daughter Taught Me about Life”. Mike and his wife Diane are proud parents of their sons Matt and Chris and doting grandparents of their granddaughters Reese and Ellie.
Beyond that, Mike blogs HERE regularly. On that site, he describes himself this way — albeit it’s a touch dated in the details:
I’ve been blessed by the love of a wonderful family: Diane . . . Matt (a physician in Abilene), Jenna, Reese, and Ellie . . . and Chris (a freshman at Abilene Christian University). And of course, the memories of Megan (1984-1994) still surround us. I love guacamole and fajitas, baseball, Lord of the Rings, Princess Bride, Jimmy Buffett, CCR, the Eagles, the Zoe group, the Cardinals, fresh seafood, hiking, cycling, triathloning, coaching little league, etc. I am living evidence of God’s patient pursuit. And I’m enjoying teaching freshmen at ACU, working with a ministry called “What Really Matters,” and will soon work full-time for Pepperdine University. Yes, we could have moved to Malibu. Yes, we’ve decided to stay in Abilene. Really. “Why?” you ask. Many reasons. By which I mean two granddaughters!
Mike is one of the most sought-after speakers in our fellowship, and you will be richly fed by this servant of God.
JASON HILDEBRAND: Part storyteller, part creative catalyst—Jason works extensively as an actor, producer, filmmaker and communication coach. He is most recognized for his solo performances: “Blue Like Jazz//Live” – based on Donald Miller’s best-selling book, “The Prodigal Trilogy”, “Life of David” and “Kingdom of Herod”. Jason also tours two-man productions, including “Breathe”, with Mike Janzen – based on Greg Paul’s award-winning book, “Close Enough to Hear God Breathe”. Jason’s greatest passion is to see people living in the fullness of who they were created to be. He lives in downtown Toronto, with his wife and four children.
You will find Scripture’s content and spiritual truth coming alive in new ways as Jason performs for us. He also brags freely that he was one of the first customers in the first Tim Horton’s that ever opened in Regina!
You can learn more about Jason and his work HERE.
MALCOLM MCMILLAN: Malcolm has ministered in various roles in churches all over Western Canada over the last 20 years, even interning at Glen Elm back in 1994! He is currently the Worship Pastor at Bow Valley Christian Church in Calgary. He loves God, his family, humour, sports, and music – pretty much in that order. Malcolm’s calling and passion is to lead gatherings of people to praise God in a way that echoes in the hearts and lives of Jesus followers long after the last song is sung.
